Health care, healthcare, and health care management are the management or maintenance of health through the prevention, diagnosis, prevention, therapy, rehabilitation, or healing of different illnesses, physical conditions, and diseases in humans. Health care providers deliver health care services in different allied health fields such as general medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and geriatrics. There are also hospitals that offer specialized care to patients and they are known as acute care hospitals. They provide an array of medical and health care services to their patients, who include surgical operations and surgical procedures, rehabilitation, and specialized procedures.

The basic function of health care service is to reduce the suffering and improve the quality of life of patients. The service provider of health care includes doctors, nurses, counselors, therapists, pharmacists, and administrative staff that are experts in the field of medicine, nursing, counseling, and pharmacy. These professionals assist the patient in identifying their symptoms and treating them accordingly. When patients undergo any medical procedure, the medical professional involved in the process should take the time to determine the diagnosis of the condition and the cause and recommend the appropriate treatment method.

The field of health care is also considered as a business. It involves the management of all the medical needs of patients and the provision of the necessary medical equipment and devices. Health service providers need to be licensed and certified in order to do their job. Some of the health care service providers are known as hospitals, clinics, and outpatient clinics.

Some of the health service providers also perform surgical procedures. Some of the surgical procedures that a physician performs on his patients include removing or inserting foreign bodies, opening and closing the chest cavity, removing or changing the heart valve, repairing or replacing one of the body organs, and so on. All these surgical procedures are performed under the supervision of the physicians and medical personnel who are highly skilled and trained. Physicians and medical personnel also perform operations that are performed in the field of anaesthesia. This is performed either by using local or general anaesthesia, depending on the type of surgery performed. This method of medical treatment is generally used in patients who are having serious and life-threatening diseases.

Medical procedures are done to prevent or treat the complications of existing illnesses and diseases. For example, cancerous tumours that are not removed or cured on time can cause severe side effects on the body. Therefore, prevention and cure are essential in the treatment of cancerous disease.

Medical procedures also allow doctors and the medical professionals involved in the procedure to save the life of their patients when they become unconscious. As we know, the survival rate of people who have been declared dead due to medical reasons is relatively high.
